Well, most people I know think the last couple of years have been, to quote the Queen …Β “Annus horribilus”. And I tend to agree. It’s been a rough couple for our family too.
I wish for us all that 2018 is a better one. A “Friend” if you will …
If you’ve been round here for a while you’ll know I don’t make NY resolutions. But I do choose a word for the year. For 2018 I have chosen :
Finish is something I aspire to do more of in 2018. And I started off the year by living my new word. Wrapped around my 2018 word above, is a pic of my very first Quilt top finish for the year. Granted, it’s not a totally finished quilt yet, but it will be quilted soon and I will bind it and prepare for it’s new home … How pretty is that Bonnie & Camille “Hello Darling”? π
Besides being horrible, the last couple of years I have found it challenging to actually make a plan and finish things. I make lists that don’t get completed, start projects that turn into UFO’s, extended my Interior Design course (again!!), and basically, constantly feel disorganised and chaotic.
I did not finish one single quilt last year.
NOT.ONE. ==> This one has been sitting for a year!!
I made blocks. I did a little sewing. I didn’t finish anything. Sad.
Anyhow. Here’s cheers to a fantastic, safe, creative and productive 2018.
This lovely nearly, nearly finished quilt is evidence that you CAN do it. You can use the F-word π What do you think would help you reach the finish line with some of your WIPs (not UFO, that’s misusing the F-word)? Encouragement, target dates for posting about progress, not allowing yourself to buy any new fabric before you complete at least one other piece? (No, OK, that last one is totally unreasonable, but you know what I’m getting at!). I really would like to see more of your lovely work posted… pretty please?
Hi Kate! My main plan is to make time. I tend to spend more time planning (daydreaming!!) than actually sewing. So I am going to put aside an hour a day to either cut or sew. I have sooooo much inspiration, ideas and patterns (and fabric!!) that I just need to DO. My hour is coming from my veg out time – after dinner I watch something and play on the computer, emails and such. Instead, I will “finish”.
I am aiming to finish a quilt a month for 2018. Yes, that’s pretty conservative, but considering I finished NOTHING last year, it’s a fair jump π
My WIP/UFO pile isn’t huge, but my planning pile is. And I have already set a self-imposed fabric buying ban. If it doesnt finish a project, and I can’t find it or something close enough in my stash, it doesnt get bought!
And yes, I also plan on blogging more and sharing some work pics
….. Wish me luck!! π
Wow, you’ve really got some focus going here! The best of luck, and I hope to see something later on this month – or was that January’s quilt I commented on already?
Thanks π
I hope to finish at least one other WIP this month … Stay tuned!
