Mid Week Rambling

That’s right – HAPPY HUMP DAY everyone!
Not that I know why I’m excited – I work Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue this weekend … so it’s kinda like a long weekend in reverse or an anti-long-weekend! lol

Oh well … I don’t mind cos I must admit, I am absolutely loving my job right now! I spoke to my boss the other day and she has okayed me holding a DIY class on make-your-own Chalk Paint! Yaay! Very excited 🙂 And next week I am going to try making my own Milk Paint! If only finding powder pigments weren’t so hard! Do any of you know where I can find some that won’t cost an arm and a leg??

Not much is happening on the sewing front for me right now.
This might be hard to believe, but I have been sewing for the last year or two on a Blow Mould, fold out table in our living room! haha
Anyhow, I lent our 2 fold out tables to a friend last week and I took it as an opportunity for a clean up.
The same day I found this amazing wooden table/desk on Gumtree!!

It’s on castors and needs a bit of a tidy up, you might be able to see I’ve already started to sand the drawers? One needed a little repair too and I put them back in to take a quick pic … The yellow/orange varnish has to go!
This baby is super sturdy tho! And she fits my cutting mat well. Exactly what I was looking for!
I will at last be able to sew above medium speed without the table shaking and supplies falling off from the vibrations! 😀
Hopefully I will get the make over done including a quick wax today, and get her in and being used by tomorrow!

And not before time either! I’m running late on August’s Bee block! September’s is up already and I hope to get them both done before Friday … Speaking of Friday – It’s my little man’s birthday!! I can’t believe he will be 5 already!! He has requested a Minecraft cake and I was pushing for Creeper. He has narrowed it down to Enderman. *phew*! Of alllll the possible Minecraft cakes, this would have to be the easiest!

I am starting a detox tomorrow. Not sure what to expect, but I am going to be very strict and stick to it all. Even the nil-caffine rule! Not sure how that one will go! lol Wish me luck!

Look what has just arrived on my doorstep!!!

It’s the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint prize pack I won from Kartina Chambers blog {I mentioned it HERE!}

I can’t wait to get into it!!! They are sew pretty!

I have recently upcycled a cheap TV cabinet for the boy’s new playroom {I am re-arranging and re-painting all the rooms}.

I used Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint for it. It is lightly shabbied and waxed.
This is the before and after :

I will take some better pictures of it and share in a future post.

I recently tried my hand at making my own chalk paint and have started a little project with it :

I am in love with the colour! It is sooooo bright and beautiful!!

I am also going to try to make my own milk paint in the next few days!
When I have done so, and used it, I will do a special post rating the 4 in my own opinion. So stay tuned! 😉

Sew, I thought I might start up a little facebook page for Manic Mumdays!

The main reason I did this is cos sometimes I want to share something short …

For instance.

Last night I was doing the folding. I wash for all about once a week … And last night I folded 21 pairs of my eldest baby’s jocks. Twenty one! How does one kid wear 21 pairs of jocks in 7 days or less????

….. See? A funny line or two on a facebook post, but not something I can base a whole blog post on, right?

Or this.

I have been suffering from a dry scalp the last few years {Strangely enough my hair/scalp just hasn’t been the same since having the kids – #256 on the list of things ‘they’ don’t tell you before you have kids! 😉 } So I have been researching natural treatments on Pintrest. {Follow me on Pintrest HERE!} And last week I treated my scalp with warm olive oil and rinsed it with apple cider vinegar ….. Since then I have only washed with a water/bicarb mix and rinsed with a water/apple cider vinegar mix.
My hair hasn’t looked or felt this good in a looong time! I am off for a trim tomorrow, and I am very interested to see if my lovely hairdresser thinks it’s improved from her perspective too 🙂

See? Excitement!!!!! I am hanging out for it to arrive so I can playyyy!
I made over a tv cabinet for the boy’s playroom last week using Milk Paint, and I will share a pic in the next few days 🙂

Well, I am off to crash as I have been on the go since 5.30am – a 10hr day at work! … A big one for me and for my poor tired little babies ❤

Sad Days

The world lost one of it’s very best shining stars today. I know I’m not breaking news here. Unless you’re Amish, there’s not much chance you could have missed it. I haven’t been this devastated over the death of someone I have never met since I can’t remember when.

These are just a couple of my favourite of his many movie triumphs:

I watched Patch Adams just last weekend. And yesterday I taped Aladdin for the kids to watch this weekend. He will remain one of my favourite actor/comedians.

I first saw it a couple of years ago, but this quote is something that will stick with me forever, it’s so profound in its simplicity :

It speaks right to my heart and soul. I often say a person can be all alone, even in the largest of crowds.
I think it is a little peephole into the sadness you could sometimes see in his gorgeous, mischievous, twinkling eyes.

Depression is a dangerous, insidious darkness that does not discriminate. Even the most {outwardly} bright, happy, funny people can be overcome. I won’t pretend to know how it feels, I am one of the lucky ones. And I think those dealing with depression day in, day out are so brave and strong. It must be so very, very hard.
I wish that we who love them could share some of the burden.
I wish with all of my heart that they would reach out. And that a helping hand is there to grasp.

Unfinished …

I had a shocker 24 hours yesterday!
It started when I had the battery replace on my car Monday and didn’t stop til I got home at 6pm last night! *phew!*

Interestingly, I just made a typo on the title – put “Unfunished”
That wouldn’t have been untrue either! haha

As I have mentioned before, I joined in the Australian Kate Spain Charm Swap hosted by the fabulous Ms Midge …

Melissa {Ms Midge} arranged a fantabulous bunch of prizes and a “Charm-Along” to show off our gorgeous bundles.
I had been {slowly} working towards the cut off date. But alas … the afore-mentioned shocker 24 hours has been my undoing! I intended to get the top completed Monday night and get some pics taken in the morning. Blog. Link-up. Easy … Right?
Yeahhh … not so much! When I didn’t get quite completed I was going to finish and take pics in the morning.
Nope, no go then either.

So. I am out.
And what makes it even sadder is the fact that I have found my MOJO!! haha
