Home again, home again lickity split …

Well.

We’re home – yaaay! {what I really mean is “Thank f*ck!”}

We had quite an eventful holiday.
It looked for a day or two like we wouldn’t even make the cruise ship!
My poor little man developed a chest infection which they thought might be pneumonia! It wasn’t thankfully and a course of antibiotics set him on the straight and narrow once again 🙂 *Phew! I can’t stand it when one of my babies is sick!

Sadly it meant we had a shortened trip to Seaworld and the other 2 boys went off to Movieworld without us 😦 We spent the day warm and sleepy in the hotel room {I was sick too, but not as bad as Ryan} And it was far too cold to go to the water parks! There was, however, an awesome water park at the resort and Mark n Harry had a couple of plays in it … Crazy buggers!

Holiday 2Above, starting from bottom left : At the airport – We’re on our way!; Q1 from below; North from the top of Q1; South from the top of Q1; That’s the Qld/NSW border – we crossed over into cockroach country!; Coolangatta Beach.

Holiday 1
Above are some bits and pieces from our fractured Gold Coast visit.

We had to be at the port to board Pacific Jewel between 10.30-11am and man! There are some lines you have to wait in to get on those ships!! We finally boarded and were supposed to set off by 3 or 4. We ended up having dinner still in port and after some safety talks, we were at last on our way by around 7pm ish!

Holiday 3
Above is a pretty picture heading out on the Brisbane River; Us checking out our cabin and donning our safety vests while learning what to do if the worst was to happen 🙂

We were at sea for 2 days and got into port in Noumea late afternoon. Which sadly left us only a couple of hours daylight to explore 😦 Oh well … We made our own fun in the city and visited a gorgeous old Cathedral, had a quick snack of twisties and coke in the park.

Holiday 4
Clockwise from top left : Ryan’s favourite place to watch the ocean {they claim to have seen flying fish one morning and a shark one afternoon haha}; Park fountain, Noumea; Archie, our fantabulous steward made towel animals for the kids a couple of times 🙂 ; Me on Mare; The boys sitting in the window again; Ahoy Captain Ryan!; Some ALOT of DS was played; Ahoy Captain Harry!; And a cute little tug boat I couldn’t leave out 🙂

Holiday 5
Leaving Vanuatu at dusk; All of us at a lookout on Vanuatu; We parked next to a kindy and these little ones jumped up to the fence and started yelling “Take my picture! Take my picture!” lol; Harry with a gorgeous Iguana on his hat; We got our picture with the village chief; Coming into Mare; The boys holding a Green Turtle; The warriors were very scary! 😉 ; And the boys on Mare with Jewel in the background.

I, for one have decided I am NOT a cruiser. I didn’t much like it. I was bored and on the last 2 days seasick {despite taking seasick tablets} It was exceptionally AWESOME to not have to cook or clean tho! 😉
And I really enjoyed checking out the islands. The kids loved the kids clubs and the food was lovely.

Holiday 6
Walking to the plane we glimpsed our ship heading off on her next adventure! Little dudes look deceptively happy to be on the plane heading home … I say deceptively because on that short flight they both {at different times} had sooking fits of “I miss Pacific Jewel” and “I miss my new friends” haha funny little dudes!

Now we are home, things are getting back to normal. Husband is back at work, kids are still on school holidays for another couple of days and I am getting back into my sewing 🙂
It reeeeaaalllllly helps that I came home to a gorgeous bundle of Kate Spain charms from the swap organised by Ms Midge! 😀 I have chosen the quilt I will make with them and am keen as mustard to get elbow deep in it!
Sew, hopefully I will have a few pics of some blocks for it in my next post … Stay tuned 😉

June Bee Block … AND … We’re going on HOLIDAYS!!!! :D

I finished a gorgeous Bee block last night for our June Queen.

Perfectly named the Scrap Jar Star, it’s a wonderful scrap-buster and I have one cut out for myself too
{I am slowly catching up on making myself a block from each Queen Bee’s reign with the view of mashing them all together at the end of the 12 months for a gorgeous throw for my couch!}

Only 4 more sleeps until we go on our longed-for Holiday!
When I say “longed-for” I really mean it … we booked this in Feb last year! That’s right 16months ago!!!

This time next week we will be here :

Gold Coast

And while this is my plan :

Gold Coast ME

I am sure I will be overruled by the 3 males :-/
Along the lines of :

Collage GC
gold-coast-theme-parks blend

But that’s ok!
Cos after our Gold Coast adventures we move onto more sedate, relaxing adventures!
Collage cruise

To say our family is excited for this holiday is a complete understatement!

Sew … If I get a chance before we scoot I will come chat again. If not, see you in a couple of weeks!!
Squeeeeeee!

Still kicking ;)

Evening all 🙂
How was your Easter? Hope you got lots of these 😉

Today was the first day of Term 2 today and normally I would be sighing a lovely “Ahhhhhh”
But the big man-child decided he would take the 3 day week off combined with a dentist appointment and a big pile of forgotten book-covering for the school library and I haven’t stopped or relaxed all day! lol

….. On a happy note I have lovely clean teeth 😀 heehee
And the kids enjoyed their first day back at school and kindy which makes me happy too!

In other news I have been pottering round doing a little sewing …

Here is the ‘Swoon’ block I made for our Queen in my Quilting Bee this month :

Bee Block ~ March

I love the colours, and half way thru I decided I loved this block so much that I purchased a pattern to create a mini version.
I thought it would be the perfect size for a jelly roll. And it is …
But I had to unpick the last 2 seams about 17 times each!!! Painful!
….. so I have put that aside for a time when I will have more time to devote to it.

I knocked up a gorgeous new dress for my little niece. The lovely Lou from The Oz Material Girls and Patterns Only asked me to give a review on the pattern. The pattern is the new Grace dress from Boo! Designs.
And I have to say, it was a dream to make! And I think it turned out beautifully! What do you reckon? :

I am so proud of myself, with this dress I {finally} taught myself to make rolled hems on my overlocker!
It was well worth the effort – those ruffles are the best I’ve ever made!!

Anyhoooo … I am off for now, catch you all soon 🙂

Another New Year …

Time goes by so damn fast!

I think I feel it mainly since I had my boys, they are growing like weeds and I need them to slow down!!

Here they are this week with some of my little pet-minding clients 🙂

Here is the Christmas tree skirt I made for us this year:

Now, I’m not really one for New Year Resolutions.

But I like to set myself some goals :

The first goal I have for 2014 is to eat better and lose some lard. I am so sick of being fat and would really love to not be perpetually uncomfortable any more!!

The second goal I have is to figure out what I want to do with my life and get moving in that direction.
I would like to do a TAFE course of some sort.
Even if it’s not exactly what I want, I need to learn something new and open up some opportunities for myself.

The third goal I have for myself is to try to complete one quilting project per month.
I know lots of quilters do heaps more, but I am relatively new to this caper and I don’t like to set the goalposts too far away. It sets you up to fail 🙂

My fourth and final goal is very broad. It’s to be better.
By this I mean, do better; eat better; exercise better; be a better mother, wife, daughter, friend; work better; waste less time; stop swearing {a tough one for me cos I like it so much! 😉 haha} …

~*~

Whatever you have planned for it,
I hope 2014 brings all you dream for!

~*~

2014 looks to be a busy one for us, my littlest man is off to Kindy 5 days a fortnight this year!!!!
I will miss him dreadfully! 😦 But I think he is more than ready for it.
So I will have 30 whole hours a fortnight to do something for me … the possibilities are endless!
I can sew un-interrupted, do my TAFE course, who knows! I had hoped to move to days at my current job but that doesn’t look like a possibility atm, so a change of jobs may even be on the cards! 🙂

Anyhow, my lappy is going in for a service this week so I will pop back when she gets back and hopefully have some new goodies to show you 🙂 Here’s to a fantastic 2014 for us all!

Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

“… And sometimes when you’re not.

Not that I’m having a bad time of things. Just in a bit of a rutt, or funk I think.

I seem to be procrastination more than usual and have lost my sewing ‘mojo’.
I was half way thru writing a whinge but then thought, “It wont help anything and will only make me feel bad” so I will instead post an inspirational picture from the wisest being I know of 😉 “

MANIC2

HMMMMMM
I wrote the above in early November … I have been so very slack with my posts! So sorry! {Not about Yoda – Yoda is good, Yoda is wise! He actually says this quote for my message alert on my phone! haha}.
I don’t know how I am ever going to become the most successful blogger in the world if I don’t actually blog! {Kidding, I have no such aspirations! If just one or two friends read this I will feel totally privileged! 😀 Anyone more is a bonus!}

Truth is, I was in a *total* funk back then!

I was going thru a transfer at work, taking on more work in my petminding and other endeavours and to be honest,
I just felt like I had no time to myself! My introverted self can sometimes come to the forefront and I can become claustrophobic and all peopled-out ….. I have also since then regained my sewing Mojo and we are firing ahead! Yaay!

This is the ‘inspirational’ picture I now need to live by :

MANIC

haha seems apt – I need to just DO for a change 🙂

I have mentioned I think, that I joined my very first Quilting Bee!! For our October Queen Bee we made Granny Squares!
Here are the ones I made her that I mentioned in my last post, oh-so-very-long-ago! :

I was Queen Bee for November!! Squeeeeee!!
THIS is the amazing fantastic, gorgeous, beautiful, far-exceeds-my-expectations result :

Kate's Bee Block!

Mine is the top left block and the other 11 were sent from 11 very talented ladies from all over Australia!!

Gorgeous isn’t it?!!!! I adore it! I intend on making another 8 to make an extra later top and side which will take it to about single bed sized! AND!!! When I say I intend to – I have already started!!! HA HA – See = My mojo’s BACK lovely’s!!!

Have a fantabulous Thursday – Who can smell the weekend?
