A Finish and a Vow

The finish.
I have a cute little finish to share tonight 🙂
This lovely has sat on my couch patiently waiting for me to finish it for the last 3 weeks … All I had to do was 1 1/2 sides of binding! Slack hey?IMG_6933 (2)The front. Held up by my best helper, Master 9 {That’s the top of his tennis cap peaking over the top. We took these waiting for their lessons lol}
I used Riley Blake’s Country Girls fabric. It’s such a pretty range!

It’s a nice size for baby – 45″ x 48″ {114cm x 122cm}

The vow.
This little beauty sat half done for aaages. I am vowing to myself to not let that happen any more. I am so gung-ho when doing my tops. I can often whip one up in a day. or a weekend. But when it comes time for the back I struggle!!
I prefer to make pieced backs creatively use up scraps from making the quilt and I have been struggling to come up with ideas. By that stage I want something that’s going to be quick but I want it to still be pretty.

So. My vow is this – Make the back right away! While I have momentum!
And, if I’m struggling for inspiration – Remember KISS!
Keep It Simple Stupid!

In that vein I am going to whip up a couple of backs for the tops languishing in my “To-Be-Finished” pile. Lets see how  go. If successful, I should be able to share another couple of finishes in September! Wish me luck!

Plodding Along

… Yup. That’s me this month. Plodding along.

Getting things done, but not feeling like I am. How was your Easter? Hope the Easter Bunny was kind to you!

I have finished a couple of quilt tops in the last couple of weeks, quilted one of them and the binding is attached on one side ready to hand stitch the other side. I’ve also done a couple of BOMs/QALs.
It feels productive, but don’t seem to have much to show for my labours.
Would you like to see some sneak peeks? If you’re anything like me the pics are usually the highlight of a blog post haha. Here you go :

IMG_6211A cute baby quilt using a tute by Jessica Kelly found at Moda Bakeshop and some Riley Blake’s Snips & Snails 🙂
It still needs a back and to be quilted.

IMG_6213This one is a simple brick pattern with border. I used Country Girls by Riley Blake and my favourite white Quilters Solid from The Oz Material Girls. It’s been SLQed with my new walking foot and just needs its binding finished!IMG_6214The back of the same quilt. It ended up mainly blue/green/white because that’s what I had left! haha

IMG_6204 (2)I have joined Pat Sloan’s Quilt Along facebook page and as well as joining in the awesome Vacation Time Mystery BOM, {I will share some pics next time} she throws us awesome challenges! Do you remember when I mentioned leaders and enders last month {HERE}? That revelation was born from Pat’s last challenge – Hip To Be Square!
Anyhow, her latest challenge is the String Bean Challenge and all we had to do was use some of her own fabrics to be in the running for the fabulous prizes she has up for grabs this time round. I had a gorgeous jelly roll of her One For You, One For Me fabrics sitting round all lonely so I bit the bullet and cut into it! ^ This is the result of that. I love it!! It’s a great sized throw and I will find it hard to let go of so it might be joining my growing collection.
 Thanks for stopping by!
